Sarah Vogel Named COO of Interstate Printing Company, Marks Fourth Generation of Family Business
Vogel Takes Second-in-Command Spot February 26
Sarah Vogel has joined Interstate Printing Company as its new COO, effective February 26, 2024. The company board, along with CEO and President Bill Peter, announced the move to company employees at an internal meeting in mid-February.
Vogel comes to Interstate Printing after a 16-year career in management at Union Pacific in which she rose through the ranks in a variety of leadership roles, chiefly in the operations and logistics areas. Starting as a dispatcher, Vogel moved on to increasingly more responsible management positions before finishing her UP career as a Lane Superintendent—in charge of all of UP’s train operations within the Pacific Northwest. During her time with the Fortune 500 railroad, Vogel led multiple projects that resulted in millions of dollars’ worth of savings to the company. She was a UP Way Award winner; she became a Certified Continuous Improvement Specialist; and she graduated from the company’s Leadership Development Program.
Bill Peter introduced Vogel to the Interstate Printing team at an all-employee town hall on February 19.
“We couldn’t be more pleased to have Sarah on board,” Peter said. “She brings a wealth of management and leadership experience to the table thanks to her years at Union Pacific, as well as a long list of accomplishments in achieving operational efficiencies. She’s absolutely the right person for the job.”
Vogel—who, like Peter, is a descendant of company founder Valentine J. Peter—said after the employee town-hall meeting that she was looking forward to joining the team and furthering the success of the century-old family business.
“It’s an honor to come aboard Interstate Printing as COO,” said Vogel. “I look forward to working alongside Bill and the entire Interstate team as we build momentum toward greater growth in the future. I can’t wait to get started.”
A native of Omaha, Vogel holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Creighton University. She lives with her husband and children in Missouri Valley, Iowa.
